Third Grade Art Lesson 16

Looking at Mosaics, Part 2 Completing Our Mosaic Box

Objective:

The students will complete their mosaic box by painting the rest of the box.

Materials:

Acrylic paints, paint brush, paper to cover the tables, mosaic boxes

Procedure:

If you have not completed your mosaic, spend time completing it. Today we will complete our boxes. We want to paint the bottom and sides of our box. Choose an acrylic paint that is the same color as the background of your mosaic. Cover your tables and carefully paint the sides of the top of your mosaic. Using the same color paint the sides of the bottom of the box. You may want to paint the bottom also. Be careful using your paintbrush, making sure your strokes go in the same direction, for a more refined finish. Put your box in a safe place to dry.

Conclusion:

Have the students share their boxes and encourage them that these would make great gift boxes.
