What your 5th Grade students will learn from each lesson 5th grade Art Lesson 1 Base Line Self Portrait Objective: The student will draw a self portrait, date it and put it away to use as a comparison for improvement at the end of the year. 5th Grade Art Lesson 2 Observation verses Memory Objective: The students will compare work created from memory to work created by observation. Students will find that looking at the object while they draw it will yield better results. 5th Grade Art Lesson 3 Tree Line Drawing with Ink Objective: The students will observe an actual tree and draw it using line variation. 5th Grade Art Lesson 4 Value Studies / Making Organic Shapes into Forms Objective: The students will learn that value reveals form. The students will indicate their understanding of value by making shapes into forms using value. 5th Grade Art Lesson 5 Working with Texture / Changing the Way Everyday Objects Appear Objective: The student will know what texture is and practice applying texture to a variety of everyday objects. 5th Grade Art Lesson 6 Completing Our Texture Drawing Objective: The student will contrast the texture in their drawing with patterns in the background. 5th Grade Art Lesson 7 Tissue Paper Collage / Still Life Pumpkins Objective: The student will use tissue paper to build up a collage of a still life arrangement. 5th Grade Art Lesson 8 Completing Our Tissue Paper Collages / Drawing Off the Lines Objective: The student will complete their still life tissue paper collage by delineating the details of the still life. 5th Grade Art Lesson 9 Indian Teepee Decorations / Making the Loom Objective: The students will build a loom for creating an Indian teepee decoration. 5th Grade Art Lesson 10 Weaving on Our Loom / A Lesson on Radial Balance Objective: The students will complete their weaving and understand radial balance. 5th Grade Art Lesson 11 Beginning Our Silhouette Studies Objective: The student will make a list of things that are important to them and design symbols to arrange or compose inside their silhouette. 5th Grade Art Lesson 12 Working with Color / Coloring in Our Silhouette Symbols Objective: The student will begin coloring in the symbols inside their silhouette. 5th Grade Art Lesson 13 Working Out a Background to Complete Our Silhouette Drawings Objective: The students will complete the background of their silhouette using pattern and color to unify their work. 5th Grade Art Lesson 14 Paper Designs / Cutting Out Snowflakes Objective: The student will learn to cut paper so as to create intricate designs. 5th Grade Art Lesson 15 Using Our Hands to Create Design Objective: The students will trace their hands to fill a large sheet of white paper, creating a unique design 5th Grade Art Lesson 16 Completing Our Hands Design Objective: The students will complete the colorful display of their hand designs. 5th Grade Art Lesson 17 Working with Warm and Cool Colors / Larger Than Life Shoe Drawings Objective: The student will draw off their own shoe larger than life and use warm or cool colors to color it in. 5th Grade Art Lesson 18 Completing Our Giant Shoe Drawing Objective: The students will complete their giant shoe drawing by filling in the background with either warm or cool colors, the opposite of what they used on their shoes. 5th Grade Art Lesson 19 Presidential Drawings / A Study in Symmetry Objective: The student will complete one half of a presidential portrait using value. 5th Grade Art Lesson 20 Completing Our Presidential Portraits Objective: The student will complete their presidential portraits by planning and executing a unique background design. 5th Grade Art Lesson 21 Look at Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night Objective: The student will become familiar with Van Gogh's painting Starry Night and will copy the painting with acrylic paint. 5th Grade Art Lesson 22 Completing Our Starry Night painting Objective: The student will be familiar with the characteristic style of Vincent Van Gogh's painting. 5th Grade Art Lesson 23 Landscape Painting Van Gogh-Style Objective: The student will complete their own landscape painting using the style of Vincent Van Gough. 5th Grade Art Lesson 24 Value Study / Drawing Our Hand Objective: The student will complete a drawing of their hand using the art element value. 5th Grade Art Lesson 25 Completing Our Hand Studies Objective: The student will complete their hand drawing by designing a colorful background. 5th Grade Art Lesson 26 Flower Studies / Examining for Detail / Designing Your Own Flower Objective: The student will do studies of a variety of flowers and then design their own flower. 5th Grade Art Lesson 27 Using Your Flower Design to Create a Batik Objective: The student will use their flower design to complete the first step of creating a batik style image. 5th Grade Art Lesson 28 Completing Our Flower Batik Objective: The students will crumple, paint, and wash their drawings to gain an understanding of the basic batiking process. 5th Grade Art Lesson 29 Value Study / Our Final Portrait Objective: The student will begin a final self portrait using value. 5th Grade Art Lesson 30 Completing Your Final Self Portrait Objective: The student will complete their final self portrait by designing a background to accentuate their drawing.
